Last weekend, I was invited to do a talk about some of Sussex’s weird and wonderful folklore at the Battle Folk and Fable Festival.
Which is to say: the lovely festival team made the error of handing me a microphone and allowing me to trap an unsuspecting crowd of festival-goers in the main marquee. Imagine I’m the witch from Hansel and Gretel, only instead of a child-sized oven and a cannibalistic hunger, I’ve got a large white tent and an insatiable desire to talk about ghosts.

We got into all the good stuff: drowned churches, haunted trees, witch hounds, knuckers, and Pharisees.
